I wanted to share my story so that if even just one person felt a little less alone, then it was worth it. But this is also what got me out of bed every morning for the past two months. Here is what Brix had to say “This music video and song is by far the most vulnerable and revealing piece of art I’ve ever put into the world. Considering Dupin caught the virus must have made it extremely tough to film over 86 days continuously given the fact there would be days you wouldn’t want to get out of bed. Finally I must commend Brix, what she has here is an intriguing insight which compelled me until the very end. If I was to sum up this emotional video in one word it would have to be enchanting. The period documented is between March to May and just watching/ reading the captions always brings a lump to the throat. Thankfully Dupin beat the virus and these visuals were spliced iPhone clips from the balcony of her Brooklyn apartment. Sadly Sophie contracted the corona virus and decided to record a unique music video which formed a diary of a broken heart in quarantine “City lockdown best we stay in side/ But time alone unlocks what I try and hide”. So Brix then sent this tune over to produced Dan Krysa who began to work on it remotely. Even though places are reopening in phases, it will take a long while until everything goes back to normal. Once a vaccine for this virus is discovered the world can properly heal. These times are tough as you cannot reach out to relatives/ loved ones, whilst these rules are necessary to stop the spread they can seriously affect your mental health. Lock down measures have been introduced, people have been advised to stay inside and socially distance from others (who you’re not living with). Despite the fact it focused on a broken heart Call Me Naive can actually take on a different meaning given the current situation. This emotive tune was written at the beginning of the COVID-19 global pandemic. This succulent single showcased Brix’s magically sweet vocal tones, those lyrics were penned after a relationship breakup and the pain was so fresh as feelings for the other half are still there “I still think of you/ Wondering what you’re doin’/ And if you feel it too/ When I think of you/ No matter what I do I still think of You”. This number was a dreamy indie/ pop gem which tugged on the heartstrings. ![]() Anyhow 19th May 2020 saw the unveiling of the latest original and this being Call Me Naive, But I Guess I Thought If The World Was Ending, You Would Call, 2 days later the emotionally charged music video appeared on YouTube. Sophie is a gifted individual who can pen blissful indie/ pop tunes. Recently I’ve been introduced to Brix’s music and all I can say is WOW. Having listened to these compelling covers and the Broken Vessel, Sophie Dupin does have something incredibly exciting. So far 2020 has seen Dupin unveil a trio of sublime covers, these being intriguing interpretations of Nirvana, The All American Rejects and Simon & Garfunkel. Now that song even appeared in the official trailer for Disney’s The Nutcracker and The Four Realms.Īside from that Sophie’s vocals and songwriting are featured on Hollywood Records’ artist Cole Plante’s song “Before I’m Yours”, she’s sung with Passion Pit on Saturday Night Live plus her songwriting can be heard on the WB show “Charmed”, the film Manhattan Nocturne starring Adrian Brody as well as various Television commercials for brands like Shoedazzle, Crayola & Febreze. ![]() Anyhow this mini album was produced by Jay Levine and Tim Shrider, plus it also featured Dupin’s captivating take on No Doubt’s Just A Girl. Brix made her debut in 2018 with the Broken Vessel EP, this 5 track collection came to life after the passing of her father to cancer. Sophie Dupin adopts the moniker Brix, she’s a superb singer/ songwriter who is currently based in New York City. ![]()
